A gift that started it all
How 993 Burke Road, Camberwell, Melbourne became our home…
Edith Hughes-Jones OBE was a distinguished nurse and a leader in re-shaping the nursing profession. In the early 1970's, Edith became deeply impressed with the work of Cairnmillar. She participated in several of Cairnmillar's programs and involved her staff in some of the professional development courses conducted by Cairmillar's Founder and Executive Director Dr Francis Macnab. Edith was a visionary. Her generous gift to the Institute enabled Cairnmillar to purchase 993 Burke Road in Camberwell, Melbourne. Edith has helped thousands through her truly notable gift to the people of Australia.
